NEOMED awards Strategic Initiative Funding for artificial intelligence adoption pilot
In support of the advancement of the 2030 Strategic Plan, leadership has awarded Strategic Initiative Funding (SIF) to support "NEOMED AI Adoption Pilot Program," a proposal submitted by Leonela Mora, associate director, AI education and integration.
This pilot will encourage effective, ethical and responsible AI usage with Microsoft Copilot as the enterprise training tool.
A People-First Approach to AI Integration
The pilot kicked off this October, inviting selected participants to complete a pre-pilot survey of their experience with and knowledge of AI. Upon completion of this survey, participants will be invited to register for a series of trainings based on their prior awareness of AI tools.
Training will be delivered throughout the month of November and will cover data security, AI fundamentals, prompting, AI agents and building workflows. Participants will also be invited to attend weekly office hours to discuss what they have learned.
Strategic Impact
Artificial intelligence is changing the way we learn and work, and healthcare is no exception. By investing in responsible and ethical AI usage, this program supports future innovation in research, operations, teaching and learning.
Measuring Success
Success will be evaluated through participant feedback during and after pilot trainings, usage assessed through Copilot analytics, and time savings reported by users.
The team will use this information to develop future plans for University-wide AI integration and improve training for future users.
