NEOMED awards Strategic Initiative Funding for grant-writing workshop
In support of the advancement of the 2030 Strategic Plan, leadership has awarded Strategic Initiative Funding (SIF) to support "Biomedical Grant Writing Workshop," a proposal submitted by Rebecca German, Ph.D., vice president for research.
This one-day workshop will provide training specifically for proposals to biomedical funding opportunities.
Targeted Training for Biomedical Grant Success
The workshop will be facilitated by the AtKisson Training Group (ATG), which has previously delivered highly rated grant-writing training at NEOMED. This offering will focus specifically on National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense and State of Ohio biomedical funding opportunities.
Planned for Spring 2026, the full-day workshop will include structured instruction, practical examples and an updated grant-writing handbook provided to all participants. The training is intended to support both new and experienced grant writers across the University.
Strategic Impact
External funding plays a critical role in advancing research, education, and institutional initiatives at NEOMED. By investing in grant-writing capacity, this initiative supports the University’s mission to promote research excellence, strengthen collaboration and expand opportunities that benefit students, faculty and the broader NEOMED community.
Measuring Success
Success will be evaluated through participant engagement, post-workshop feedback and longer-term tracking of proposal submissions and funding outcomes. Insights from this initiative will inform future grant development support and training opportunities across the institution.
