NEOMED Free Clinic welcomes new medical director

NEOMED alumna Saira B. Ismail, M.D. (’94), has been named medical director of the NEOMED Free Clinic (formerly the SOAR Student-Run Free Clinic). Dr. Ismail has been a volunteer physician with the free clinic since 2022. She is also an associate professor of clinical family and community medicine at NEOMED.

A board-certified family physician, Dr. Ismail has 25 years of private practice experience. “I am looking forward to helping to support and cultivate skills for the next generation of physicians at the NEOMED Free Clinic,” Dr. Ismail said. “The clinic provides a great learning opportunity for students and an invaluable service to the community.”

The NEOMED Free Clinic provides free, high-quality, non-emergent health care to uninsured and underinsured patients in Northeast Ohio. The free clinic, located in NEOMED Health Care on the second floor of the NEW Center, is open most Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
