NEOMED team spreads holiday cheer to Head Start families

A small but mighty group of NEOMED employees, led by Lauren Brierley, D.V.M., came together this holiday season to support children and families served by the Portage County Learning Centers Head Start Programs. Inspired by a colleague who routinely contributes to holiday giving for a local Head Start family, the team—numbering fewer than 10—decided to make generosity a group effort.

They adopted a family with three children, providing food, gift cards for the parents, and an abundance of children’s presents ranging from clothing to toys. Team members ensured that each child received multiple gifts, and one employee even donated holiday stockings.

Beyond the gifts, the experience brought the team closer together. They gathered to wrap presents, share treats, and enjoy time together during this busy season.

Dr. Brierley praised her team’s compassion, noting that their generosity reflects not only strong teamwork, but genuine care for the community they serve.

"I'm just so blown away by them, not only for being such good employees--but for being such good people in general," emphasized Dr. Brierley
