NEOMED Walking Whales team supports NAMIWalks Summit County

The NEOMED Walking Whales team exceeded their goal! The team participated in the NAMIWalks Summit County, collecting donations, walking and raising awareness about the mental health resources and supports provided locally by the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI). The Whales topped their goal of $1,000 with support from walkers and friends, and through Donation Support Cards that are on display just outside of Sequoia in the NEW Center.

NAMIWalks helps support resources like support groups and educational programming for those who experience mental health issues and their families. NAMI also has programs like:

  • Housewarming (providing new, basic household items to those who can now live independently)
  • Needy Soles (providing shoes to those who can’t afford to buy their own)
  • Hair Care (promoting self-confidence and providing assistance with personal care)
  • Creative Kids (allowing children to participate in extracurricular activities of their choosing)

All of these resources remain FREE to individuals living with a mental health condition and their loved ones because of the kindness of people like you. So thank you, Team Walking Whales!!!

On behalf of the Department of Psychiatry and NAMI Summit County, thank you for making a difference in our community!
