New episodes of 'Golden Reflections' podcast are available

Embark on an auditory adventure through the history of NEOMED on the Golden Reflections podcast series, available on Spotify. This initiative aims to illuminate the stories that have shaped the University’s identity and mission.

With each episode, listeners are invited to travel through time, from NEOMED’s humble beginnings to current strategic partnerships, uncovering the triumphs, challenges and pivotal moments that have etched our legacy. Led by the Office of Alumni Relations, the podcast delves into the 50 years that have shaped NEOMED into the health sciences university it is today.

Episode1: Our Humble Beginnings

In this debut episode, podcast host Lindsey Loftus is joined by some of the visionary pioneers who laid the foundation of the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM). James Boex, Ph.D., M.B.A., William Keck, M.D., Mark Savickas, Ph.D., and Philip W. Westerman, Ph.D., gathered together to share captivating stories from our humble beginnings.

Episode 2: NEOUCOM Becomes NEOMED

In Episode 2, former leaders David D. Allen, R.Ph., Richard Lewis, Lois Maragaret Nora, M.D., J.D., Kathleen Ruff and Jay Williamson, M.D., joined the podcast. Their visionary leadership spearheaded the transformation of NEOUCOM into NEOMED, and notably, facilitated the integration of the College of Pharmacy into the University.

Episode 3: Alumni Perspectives

From talent shows, flag football games, study carrels, scavenger hunts involving live chickens and beloved faculty members, students from the past reflect on their experiences at NEOUCOM, the forerunner of NEOMED.

Episode 4: Pharmacy Pioneers 

Members of the inaugural class of the NEOMED College of Pharmacy sit down to reflect on the early days of the program, their faith in the institution, and bonds with one another. Episode 5: What's Past is Prologue 

Two pivotal figures in NEOMED’s history reminisce about their tenure at the University. First, former president Robert S. Blacklow, M.D., offers insights on shining moments and the people who played key roles along the way. As the episode draws to a close, we honor the late Robert A. Liebelt, Ph.D., M.D., founding dean of the College of Medicine, with a touching cameo recorded just days before his passing at 96. These two remarkable leaders played integral roles in NEOMED’s history.
