New leadership within the Northeast Ohio Area Health Education Center Program Office at NEOMED
We are pleased to announce new leadership within the Northeast Ohio Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Program at NEOMED.
Maureen A. Drummond, M.S.M., SLM, VCM, has been appointed regional program director for the Northeast Ohio Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Program Office. A proud graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Gies College of Business, Maureen brings extensive experience in community development, executive and organizational leadership, and program development. She has a 30-plus-year history of service to Northeast Ohio AHEC Program Office at both the local and regional levels, most recently as director of the Eastern Ohio AHEC.
Prior to that, Maureen served the medical and nonprofit communities of the Mahoning Valley. Her leadership and dedication to the AHEC mission will continue to strengthen the work of the Northeast Ohio Program Office, NEOMED and the regional centers in Cleveland, Akron, Canton and Youngstown. A resident of Ellsworth Township, Maureen and her husband, David Scannell, enjoy traveling, supporting local businesses, and spending time with family and their two dogs, Ciaran and Rylee.
Joining Maureen in leadership is Rebecca Brabander, M.S., M.Ed., who has been appointed assistant director of the Northeast Ohio AHEC Program Office. Rebecca has played a vital role in program coordination, evaluation and student engagement, and her passion for advancing the AHEC mission will be instrumental in expanding the program’s regional impact.
Rebecca first joined AHEC in July 2020 as a program coordinator. In her new role, she will continue to coordinate, plan and assess AHEC programming while leading evaluation initiatives and supporting strategic growth. Rebecca earned her M.S. in Biotechnology and Chemical Sciences from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois, and her M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration and Student Affairs from Kent State University. She and her husband, Justin, live in Medina with their son, Miles. They enjoy hiking, traveling and exploring new parks together.
This leadership transition will lead the Northeast Ohio AHEC Program in fostering stronger collaboration among health professionals, students and community partners to strengthen and advance the healthcare workforce across the region and state.
Please join us in congratulating Maureen and Rebecca on their new roles!
