New MEDIC Collision Space is open for students and health care innovation

The Medical Design Innovation Center (MEDIC) at NEOMED provides a dynamic space for students to collaborate and explore innovative health care concepts. Thanks to a generous philanthropic donation from The Timken Foundation, the Collision Space was created and renovated driving initiatives like the Exceptional Student Experience and enhancing NEOMED’s innovation enterprise strategy through our People and Discovery pillars.

Students and groups can gather utilizing flexible seating, whiteboards, and monitors for both PC and video collaboration. The MEDIC space also features a device development lab equipped with 3D printers, a machine shop, and a conference room, fostering hands-on learning and creativity for creating transformational leaders.

James Keszenheimer, director of the MEDIC, said, “The newly renovated ‘Collision Space’ that is adjacent to the MEDIC provides the perfect environment for students, faculty, and other innovators to gather, collaborate, and develop their ideas.”

Justin Iwuagwu, M2 student and president of Innovation Café, used the remodeled Collision Space to host their inaugural meeting and said the space was truly inspiring. “The expansive, open layout comfortably accommodated all 60 attendees, offering clear views of the presentation. We’re thrilled to make the MEDIC Center our regular venue, as its openness is essential for sparking the dynamic discussions that fuel innovation.”

More upcoming campus space renovations include a relocated student game room, Quiet Study Space, Veteran’s Military Lounge, and Prayer and Meditation rooms.
