NHSC Scholarship - Primary Care in Medically Underserved Community

The 2023-24 National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarship Application Cycle has opened. The application deadline is Thursday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

The NHSC Scholarship Program provides scholarships to health profession students pursuing careers as primary care providers in exchange for their commitment to serve in high-need, underserved communities.

What to know before you apply:

  • Start the application process early.
  • Allow time to collect all required and supplemental documentation.

What does the scholarship cover?

  • Tuition and eligible fees.
  • Items including books, health insurance, and equipment.
  • Monthly stipends to assist with living expenses while pursuing your degree.

To be eligible for an NHSC Scholarship you must be:

  • A U.S. citizen (U.S. born or naturalized) or U.S. naturalized.
  • Enrolled as a full-time student (or accepted for enrollment).
  • Attending - or accepted to attend - an accredited school or program in one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory.
  • In an eligible discipline: physician, dentist, nurse practitioner, nurse midwife, or physician assistant. Eligible for federal employment. Without an existing service obligation.
