Our Cultures, Our Community: Yahira L. Diaz-Cardona

The flag display “Our Cultures, Our Community” represents the countries from which our students and their families come. It reminds us that including people from different cultures and experiences in decision-making will help to enrich community life at NEOMED.

How does the exhibit make you feel? Here’s one response:

"When I see the Puerto Rican flag in the atrium at NEOMED, I can hear the waves of our beaches and feel the island's warmth. Puerto Rico became a U.S. territory in 1898, and even after more than 123 years, we have maintained our language, customs, traditions and dances. It is truly inspiring to see all the flags hung at NEOMED; it shows how important it is to have an environment where everyone is accepted. I am proud and honored to be at a school where everyone's cultures are valued.

"I wanted to say thank you for providing me with the opportunity to share my feelings. The flags are genuinely amazing and bring me so many positive emotions."
