What is VHHS?
VHHS is an honor society that focuses on the human aspect of medicine. This organization recognizes students and faculty who demonstrate altruism, compassion, curiosity, generosity, humility, justice and moral imagination.
How did you hear about VHHS?
I first heard about VHHS briefly during orientation. From there, I focused on pursuing activities I was passionate about and finding meaningful ways to impact our community. When I was nominated, I decided to apply in hopes of inspiring students to leave their own mark and pursue the causes that matter to them.
What is your favorite part about being a VHHS member?
My favorite part of being a member is collaborating with peers whose different perspectives, experiences, and skills allow us to learn from each other or make us stronger as a team.
How does it help you as a student?
It has helped me grow by providing a creative outlet where I am free to think outside the box and turn those ideas into meaningful projects. I also feel fulfilled knowing that I have stayed true to my desire to help those in need and contribute to something greater.
How can students join VHHS?
Students nominated by faculty and peers are invited to apply by highlighting their community outreach during medical school and how their values align with VHHS. We encourage everyone to put themselves out there, seeing as this is a great opportunity to be formally recognized for their efforts and dedication.
