Perspective from the Virtuous Healer Honor Society: Meet Riley Moberly
As the nomination cycle for the Virtuous Healer Honor Society comes to a close, current members shared their reflections on being involved in VHHS.
Meet VHHS Student Member, Riley Moberly, M4!
What is VHHS?
The Virtuous Healer Honor Society is a group of NEOMED students, physicians, and faculty who exemplify the attributes of a virtuous healer: altruism, compassion, curiosity, generosity, humility, justice and moral imagination. Our aim is to uphold and embody these characteristics, allowing us to fully embrace the humanistic side of medicine.
How did you hear about VHHS?
I learned about VHHS during my M2 year when I saw their members promoting the Teddy Care Clinic!
What is your favorite part of being a VHHS member?
My favorite part of being a VHHS member is being surrounded by my amazing fellow VHHS members who share my values and challenge me to be a better person and find ways to give back to my community.
How does being a VHHS member help you as a student?
VHHS serves as a reminder, particularly during the challenging times of my journey in medicine, of the reasons I originally chose to pursue medicine. It exemplifies the humanistic side of being a physician and gives me the opportunity to keep these values central to my medical training.
How can students join VHHS?
Students are nominated by faculty and fellow classmates who feel they embody the characteristics of a virtuous healer. If you are nominated, you are invited to apply and share your experiences and demonstrate why you feel you would make a great addition to our group. We encourage you to nominate individuals who you feel possess the qualities of a virtuous healer, and we cannot wait to welcome our newest members!
