Pharmacy of the Future Opens Doors at NEOMED, Announces $0 Generic Prescriptions to NEOMED Employees

The Ritzman Pharmacy at NEOMED officially opened its doors to the public on Feb. 29, 2016.

NEOMED students, faculty and staff now have the convenience of an innovative pharmacy right on the campus, with an added benefit, thanks to NEOMED’s partnership with the pharmacy:  a $0 co-pay for generic prescriptions for anyone covered on the University’s health plan. Customers enrolled with University insurance should make sure that they use their new insurance card, marked “Optumrx’’ on the back.

NEOMED is welcoming back Hannah Cross, Pharm.D. (’13) as the managing pharmacist. “It feels fantastic to be back on campus in a collaborative learning culture,” said Dr. Cross. “The campus has grown so much and is better than ever as an environment that stimulates learning and putting that education to practice.”

Dr. Cross will not only work behind the counter, but will also offer individualized counseling for customers who have questions or concerns about their medications. Consultations take place in private rooms. Selected pharmacy students will have the opportunity to work at the store, which is located in the NEW Center.

The pharmacy offers Made in Ohio products, a full line of Ritzman supplements and a tech bar where customers can ask questions and try out new health technology.

Ritzman Pharmacy is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. The pharmacy will be holding a community open house on March 7, with the following daily specials to mark the opening:

Monday, March 7: 20% off essential oils
Tuesday, March 8: 20% off Zinger products
Wednesday, March 9: 20% off Trace Minerals items
Thursday, March 10: 3 for $5 Bounce Protein Energy Snacks
Friday, March 11: 30% off Ritzman brand Four Pillars of Health and Chewable Vitamin C
