Pharmacy student supported global HIV treatment efforts during summer internship

During the summer of 2025, College of Pharmacy student Adil Hasan gained firsthand experience in the pharmaceutical industry as a clinical operations intern at Gilead Sciences in Foster City, California. He worked on projects that supported the execution of clinical trials and improved operational efficiency.

“A key takeaway from the experience was witnessing Gilead's commitment to groundbreaking work in HIV,” said Hasan. “It was inspiring to see how the company is dedicated to not only improving patients’ lives but also ensuring access to life-changing medicines for communities facing financial and logistical challenges.”

Hasan’s time at Gilead highlighted to him the global responsibility of pharmaceutical innovation and the direct link between clinical operations and better health outcomes worldwide. The internship also strengthened his technical skills, giving him a deeper understanding of the process of drug development, from study start-up to trial monitoring.

“This internship not only strengthened my technical skills but also reaffirmed my commitment to pursuing a career in the pharmaceutical industry,” he said. "I want to focus on solutions that both advance science and expand access to the patients and communities who need them most.”
