Pharmacy student’s scholarship journey to national conference elevates understanding of managed care pharmacy

For Adil Hasan, a rising second-year pharmacy student, a recent scholarship to attend the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Annual Meeting in Houston was more than just a trip. It was a transformative experience that significantly deepened his understanding of managed care pharmacy and ignited his passion for healthcare innovation.

The AMCP Annual Meeting, a prominent event in the healthcare industry, drew over 4,000 healthcare professionals from across the nation.

"Attending AMCP Annual was an unforgettable experience that truly elevated my understanding of managed care pharmacy," Hasan shared. His participation offered unparalleled access to industry leaders. Among the many connections he made, a highlight was meeting Dr. Vin Gupta, chief medical officer at Amazon, alongside other executives and senior-level professionals from across the country.

This direct access to industry titans wasn't just a memorable encounter; it was a profound learning experience. "It was an incredible environment to challenge my networking capabilities and learn how to set myself apart in a field that’s constantly evolving," Hasan reflected. He emphasized how being immersed among leaders in managed care, pharmacy and healthcare innovation powerfully connected his classroom learning with real-world impact.

But Hasan’s experience extended beyond connecting with professionals in the field. His proactive engagement and leadership at NEOMED caught national attention. "I also was invited to speak at the Chapter Leadership Academy," he proudly recounted, "to explain how our Inaugural AMCP/IPhO speaker symposium had brought about new change to our campus, introducing non-traditional pathways for pharmacists and graduate students."

"More importantly," Hasan added, "it reaffirmed why I’m passionate about building industry-facing opportunities at NEOMED and inspired me to keep pushing forward."
