Podcast Offers Look at Careers in Pharmacy

Students in pharmacy programs may not be aware of the many options a Pharm.D. affords. A new podcast by two College of Pharmacy faculty members aims to widen students’ horizons in a product that’s convenient for them.

The first CareeRXploration podcast was launched Nov. 16 by the College of Pharmacy Office of Student Success. In the pilot episode, hosts Fady Abdlrasul, Pharm.D., assistant -professor of Pharmacy Practice and Director of Pipeline Programs, and Kristen Longstreth, Pharm.D., BCPS, associate professor of Pharmacy Practice and Director of Workforce Development, talk about their own career journeys and the different paths they took from community retail pharmacy to academia.

A series of podcasts makes sense, says Dr. Abdlrasul: “Students want to learn more about career paths in pharmacy at a time that is convenient for them.”

A recent podcast features an interview with John Moorman, Pharm.D., BCPPS, a senior content management consultant at Wolters Kluwer/Lexicomp, discussing how he uses his pharmacy expertise as a medical writer. Other guests have shared their experiences as pharmacists in pediatric solid organ transplant and medical cannabis.

The CareeRXploration podcast is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Podbean. Episodes are also available on the NEOMED website.
