President Langell addresses Akron Children’s Hospital for Veteran’s Day event
NEOMED President Dr. John Langell paid a visit to Akron Children’s Hospital to address employees during an event to honor service members for Veterans Day. The theme for the event was “Never Leave Anyone Behind – Veterans Leading Through Service, Resilience and Community,” as selected by Akron Children’s Veterans Employee Resource Group.

Dr. Langell is an Air Force veteran, who served as Commander of the 349th Medical Group, one of four groups assigned to the Air Force Reserve Command's 349th Air Mobility Wing.
“Our job is to take care of that 1% (who serve),” said Dr. Langell in his remarks. “These are people drawn to service,” noting that many veterans go on to serve as police, firefighters and EMTs. He also recognized the 70 veterans who currently work at Akron Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Langell was also presented with a challenge coin, and was able to spend time with the veterans in the audience to thank them for their service and discuss their shared experiences as service members.
