Professionals from throughout the area gathered at NEOMED for healthcare transformation forum

On Friday, May 9, nearly 150 healthcare professionals and educators from across the region participated in the Northeast Ohio Health Care Transformation Forum held in the NEOMED Education and Wellness (NEW) Center.

The day-long event, sponsored by the NEOMED Executive Education program, centered on fostering an environment of collaboration and transformation. Representatives from across the healthcare landscape shared their successes, best practices, ideas and projects related to the following focus areas: quality improvement, innovation, patient safety, technology, education and leadership.

The day began with opening remarks from Daryl Tol, head of Health Assurance Ecosystems for General Catalyst. Tol shared his thoughts on “radical collaboration” to transform healthcare.

A panel of experts including NEOMED President John Langell, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H., M.B.A., Joseph Golob, M.D., executive vice president and chief quality and safety officer for MetroHealth, Chris Powers, vice president for access and patient logistics for Summa Health, and Beck Lehman, health commissioner for the Portage County Health District, discussed leadership, healthcare transformation and other topics in a Q&A.

Peter Pronovost, M.D., chief quality and clinical transformation officer and Veale Distinguished Chair in Leadership and Clinical Transformation for University Hospitals, delivered the keynote address.

“I found this forum inspiring and had lots of wonderful presentations that I can take back to my organization,” noted one attendee.

Overall, feedback from attendees has been so positive that the forum will become an annual event to bring NEOMED's healthcare partners together at the same table.

Registered attendees joined from organizations from throughout the region, including The Schroer Group, Aultman Hospital, MetroHealth, General Catalyst/HatCo, Area Health Education Center (AHEC), Carroll County General Health District, Portage County Combined General Health District, Summa Health, Southcentral Foundation, Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, Mercy Health, Neighborhood Family Practice Community Health Centers, Summit County Public Health and NEOMED.
