On Oct. 6, 2021, the U.S. Department of Education’s office of Federal Student Aid announced immediate (but temporary) changes to the qualifications for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.
These changes do not have immediate effects on currently enrolled students. Those affected are those currently in active repayment and have made past payments on loans that would otherwise not qualify for PSLF.
Additional information can be found on the Federal Student Aid website. Currently enrolled students do not need to do anything.
