NEOMED is now accepting applications for its MEDCAMP program, taking place July 10-12, 2025. This competitive program is designed for highly motivated college-bound high school seniors and undergraduate students eager to explore the dynamic world of medical education.

Now in its 35th year, MEDCAMP provides a hands-on experience in biomedical science through interactive workshops, clinical problem-solving exercises and an introduction to clinical medicine. Participants will engage with physicians, medical and pharmacy students, faculty and researchers to gain practical insights into:

  • Physician-patient communication techniques
  • Identifying diagnostic clues and solving medical cases using critical thinking
  • Modern laboratory techniques and biomedical research
  • Completing a case study on a fictitious patient that addresses a relevant community health issue with treatment options.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have obtained a high school diploma or equivalent by July 10, 2025.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a college or university, entering their first, second, or third year of undergraduate studies.
  • Students must reside or attend school in one of the following Ohio counties: Ashland, Ashtabula, Carroll, Columbiana, Crawford, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Holmes, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Richland, Stark, Summit, Tuscarawas, Trumbull or Wayne.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.

Tuition for the three-day program is $180, with a limited number of tuition waivers.

Students will be transported by bus to a Kent State University dormitory for overnight accommodations.
