Retiree Life Insurance Question Answered

During the most recent campus update, the question below was submitted. As promised, The Pulse shares a joint response provided by the Offices of Human Resources and Operations and Finance.

Q: Why do retirees no longer receive life insurance?

A: As part of the annual review of benefits, we decided to eliminate the retiree life insurance benefit for employees hired on or after Jan. 1, 2022. Our goal is to offer employee benefits consistent with today’s market place. Per the email that you should have received from the NEOMED HR Office (hroffice@neomed.edu), Friday, Nov. 5, 2021, at 9:31 a.m. with subject line “RETIREE Life Insurance,” this does not take effect until Jan. 1, 2022. Therefore, current retirees as well as current employees, who may be eligible to retire before or after Dec. 31, 2021, will still receive the retiree life insurance benefits.
