Awards were presented during the National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students, which was held August 1-3, 2024, in Kansas City.

The award-winning interest group was led by the following third-year students in the College of Medicine:

  • Sanaiya Ahmed
  • Adiaratou Ba
  • James Berry
  • Shaarav Ghose
  • Mustafa Husein
  • Erika Ratcliff

According to an AAFP press release, “The Program of Excellence Awards recognize FMIGs for their efforts to promote interest in family medicine careers at a time when family physicians are in especially high demand for their comprehensive primary care expertise.”

Throughout the 2023-24 academic year, the NEOMED FMIG hosted educational programs, interviewing workshops, fireside chats and social events. In addition to on-campus activity, the group connects students with local and regional family medicine physicians and allows them to form deeper relationships more than just their typical student-physician relationship.

Congratulations to the FMIG!
