Student Research Symposium highlights innovation

The 2024 Student Research Symposium, held Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, in the NEW Center Ballroom, demonstrated the innovation of NEOMED students and their commitment to solving a wide variety of health-related issues. Students from the College of Medicine, College of Pharmacy and College of Graduate Studies participated with a total of 144 poster presentations and 12 oral presentations of their scholarly work.

“The Student Research Symposium was an incredible experience, showcasing the remarkable depth and diversity of our peers' academic work,” said Simran Chandawarkar, second-year medicine student, who serves as president of the Committee for Student Clinical Research, the student organization that hosts the symposium. “It was inspiring to witness students' passion and innovation, fostering a collaborative environment that truly highlights the strength of our community's commitment to discovery.”

The awardees of the Student Research Symposium include:

Best clinical research poster: Henyah Dardir, M2, and Abdullah Ali, M2

Best basic science research poster: Mustafa Houmsse, M1, and Victor Lufi, M1

Best community health/education poster: Kate Kravets, M2, and Parker Bauman, M2

Best oral presentation: Jalal Jwayyad, M2
