Student volunteer spotlight

On Friday, March 1, Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA) members attended and volunteered at the inaugural ASIA gala in Akron. The theme was Casino Night: A Night in Macau. Volunteers checked attendees in and sold tickets for games while attendees enjoyed casino games with professional dealers, dinner and desserts, and other fun activities to raise funds for Asian Services in Action (ASIA).

ASIA runs two federally qualified health centers in Cleveland and Akron to serve the Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) community of Northeast Ohio. They specialize in linguistically and culturally competent care for immigrants and refugees. APAMSA at NEOMED has partnered with ASIA for several years for service and philanthropy initiatives, including fundraising at this year’s Lunar New Year celebrations on campus.
