Telework & Flexible Work Arrangement Reminders

This is a friendly reminder on the parameters of telework/flexible work arrangements. Departments are required to ensure there is appropriate coverage in the department Monday through Friday. Coverage is essential for incoming visitors, internal and external, to receive exceptional service. There is no exception for lack of departmental coverage and these terms are non-negotiable. Every department on campus should have employees working on site who are able to assist others with their questions or business needs, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If there is an event or training that will leave a department without staff for a period of time throughout the workday, please communicate via voicemail and/or signage that the department is closed and provide a timeframe when it will be reopened.

For any employees who have been approved to work remotely throughout the work week, you are required to start forwarding your work extensions to your remote work space. This is to ensure there is appropriate coverage of incoming calls. How to forward your phones. If your department already has a system in place for call forwarding or rolling of extensions among coworkers who are working on campus, please continue to ensure those calls are answered accordingly.
