Happy new year, from The Pulse!
As 2026 begins, it’s time to take a look back at the top stories of 2025. These stories illustrate partnership, growth and the University’s commitment to providing an exceptional student experience.
Here are some of the top stories from The Pulse from last year:
THE LAUNCH OF NEOMED’S 2030 STRATEGIC PLAN
The 2020-2025 Strategic Plan laid a strong foundation for the University to build on. In August, the Strategy Office officially launched NEOMED’s 2030 Strategic Plan, providing a bold roadmap for the next years of growth, innovation and impact.

NEW PARTNERSHIPS
In November, NEOMED announced a strategic partnership with The Christ Hospital Health Network and Miami University to advance medical education, training and healthcare access in Ohio. The innovative educational partnership establishes pathways for future generations of physicians to train for a medical career in Ohio.
In December, a second partnership with Miami University was announced – a 24-month nursing curriculum intensive program for students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. The inaugural cohort of the new Northeast Ohio Nursing Program is expected to begin coursework in fall 2027.
WELCOMING NEW STUDENTS
NEOMED welcomed its largest class to the College of Medicine in July when 201 students donned their White Coats for the first time. In August, NEOMED welcomed students in the College of Graduate Studies, College of Pharmacy and, for the first time ever, the Bitonte College of Dentistry.
BITONTE COLLEGE OF DENTISTRY LAUNCHED
The 52 students in the inaugural class of the Bitonte College of Dentistry celebrated their White Ceremony in August and joined distinguished guests, including Ohio Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel, for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially launch the new college.

CMHA PROGRAM APPROVED
Later this year, the College of Graduate Studies will welcome the first class of students in the Master of Science in Mental Health Practice degree, which will train future Certified Mental Health Assistants (CMHA). The program, created by NEOMED, was approved by the state in January 2025 and began accepting applications in December.

NEOMED HOSTED MAJOR AUDITORY CONFERENCE
Nearly 200 individuals gathered at NEOMED in June for the Midwest Auditory Research Conference (MARC) for three days of sharing knowledge, networking and presentations on the most cutting-edge research on hearing health. This was the first time NEOMED hosted the conference and represented two-years of planning by the Hearing Research Group.

CELEBRATING 25 YEARS OF CIT
25 years ago, NEOMED and its partners brought Crisis Intervention Teams to the state of Ohio, bringing together law enforcement, mental health professionals, advocates, people living with mental illness and their families, and other partners to improve community responses to people experiencing mental health crises. The University continues to lead the CITs through the Criminal Justice Coordinating Center of Excellence. The CJ CCoE and NAMI Ohio hosted a celebration to commemorate the milestone anniversary of the program.
