Three second-year students to participate in the innovative I-Pitch Competition

Morgan Smith, Kayla Johnson and Brigid Devine, three second-year medical students, collectively known as MKB Accessibility, have been selected to participate in the I-Pitch competition, hosted by the University of Akron.

They will be presenting Accessichart, an electronic-medical-record integration tool designed to improve patient care for individuals with disabilities. This innovative solution has already garnered significant recognition, including selection for the National Science Foundation’s Innovation Corps (I-Corps) program at the University of Akron.

Along with 40 other teams, the NEOMED students engaged in project development, market analysis, customer interviews and collaborative workshops. The program culminated in final presentations, where teams showcased their evolved projects to the entire cohort. Based on their performance, MKB Accessibility was selected as one of the top six teams to advance to the I-Pitch competition, where they will compete for a cash prize to further support their innovation.

The I-Pitch competition will take place 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Bounce Innovation Hub (526 S Main St, Akron, OH 44311)*. The NEOMED team will present around 6 p.m. with voting to follow immediately after the presentation.

Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy light refreshments, network with participants and vote for the Audience Choice Award.
