Tom Vo, M.D. (’96) on VITALS

As the Oct. 6 VITALS guest, alumnus Tom Vo, M.D. (’96), promised to share “the good, the bad and the ugly about being an entrepreneur.”

Dr. Vo is CEO of Nutex Health, a technology-enabled health management company, which implements and operates innovative health care models, including micro-hospitals, specialty hospitals and hospital outpatient departments.

Before starting the now-publicly traded company, Dr. Vo was a physician in a busy urban emergency room. The experience of seeing inefficiencies in the ER and knowing patients waited for hours to receive care inspired the development of his company.

“There has to be a better way,” he recalled thinking.

Nutex now operates 22 micro-hospitals that include an ER and core functions. Another 20 locations are in development.
