Town Hall Follow-Up: Gym Hours

Many questions were asked and answered at the student Town Hall held April 16 at Watanakunakorn Auditorium. By filling out survey cards distributed at the end of the event, students had the chance to ask additional questions.

Here’s one, answered by Andy Malitz, executive director of The NEW Center and general manager of Sequoia Wellness.

Watch The Pulse for more questions and answers from the student Town Hall.

The next Town Hall will be held in fall 2019.

Q. Will gym hours and food options be expanded?

A. At this time there are no plans to expand the current hours of operation for Sequoia Wellness. The operation of Sequoia requires staff levels that may assure that qualified, degreed staff are on the floor at all times for safety and assistance needs for our members. This need affects costs and efficiencies in managing the business operations of Sequoia. With that being said, we do take into account all member comments and suggestions when planning programming and operational components of Sequoia Wellness.

Additionally, we have ongoing conversations with the NEOMED Student Services office leaders regarding all aspects of our business related to the student body and this subject is a part of the discussions. We will update everyone when available.

As always, we continually review our food service operations (selection, pricing, hours, service, staffing levels and efficiencies) while serving the NEOMED communities. We are cognizant of the interests of the students, faculty, staff and general community members and take all suggestions into consideration.

The varied on-campus schedules add a complexity to the equation as we seek to provide excellent service and convenience to all while providing healthy, nutritious food selections at reasonable prices. To that end, we are looking at options regarding new food offerings and potential changes to our hours for the future.
