Twitter replaces its blue bird logo with an X
Love it or hate it, Elon Musk has recently made a major change to Twitter. You’ve probably noticed the change if you have the app on your phone or have used Twitter on a desktop.
CEO Musk announced the rebranding of Twitter to “X.” The new logo replaces Twitter’s iconic blue bird logo that has been a part of social media platform’s identity since 2006.
Musk had long said he might make the change, but he hastened the process in a tweet early Sunday, July 23, when he declared that “soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.” He has said he hopes to turn Twitter into an “everything app” that would encompass not only social networking but also banking and shopping.
The rebranding comes at a time when Musk was being challenged by the Twitter base who’ve expressed dissatisfaction with changes he made to Twitter, such as a fee-based system for verified accounts.
What are tweets called now?
One of the biggest questions on everyone’s mind since the change: what are we supposed to call a “tweet” now?
According to Musk, you should be calling them “x’s.”
So, what do you think, will you continue to call them “tweets” or make the change to “x’s”?
