University Update for March

NEOMED President Dr. John Langell shared news from around the organization and took questions during a University Update on March 20. Among the highlights:

  • More than $608,000 in grant awards were announced since the last update.
  • At their last meeting, the Board of Trustees recognized Brett Schofield, Ph.D., by honoring him with the title Distinguished University Professor, the highest rank that a professor can achieve.
  • The College of Pharmacy is preparing for a site visit from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education April 1-3.
  • NEOMED’s first Giving Week was a success, bringing in more that $200,000.
  • Upcoming programs: Our Culture, Our Community program will unfurl new country flags on March 20; Match Day for pharmacy is March 19, and for medicine is March 21; VITALS with Ted Teknos, M.D., of University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center is April 3; NEOvations Bench to Bedside is April 9.
  • Commencement is May 3. Keynote speaker Frank Papay, M.D. (’84), will receive an honorary degree, as will Scott Becker, J.D., of Becker Healthcare.
