May 2024 University Update
President John Langell shared news from around the organization and took questions during a University Update on May 20. Among the highlights:
- Dr. Langell thanked faculty and staff for helping to ensure another successful Commencement ceremony on May 4.
- The University was notified of $1.2 million in research funding since the last update.
- Welcome Tonya Strong-Charles, the new chief marketing officer.
- Students have racked up recent accolades, including:
- A team from the College of Pharmacy won the 2024 Independent Pharmacy Business Plan Competition at the Ohio Pharmacist Association annual meeting;
- Kaitlyn Myk-Kish (P3) was selected as a 2023-24 recipient of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists' (ASHP) Student Leadership Award;
- Team “Dream AI” from NEOMED earned Best in Digital Health at the University of Utah’s Bench to Bedside competition.
- Jennifer Baccon, M.D., professor of pathology, has been named president-elect of the Association of Academic Pathology.
