I’d like to nominate Allison Hawkes, M.D., as an Unsung Hero.
Dr. Hawkes is the director of accreditation for the College of Medicine and the guru of all things related to the LCME, the College’s accrediting body. It’s fair to say no one in the College knows more about the LCME’s 93 elements than Dr. Hawkes -- and she is diligent in ensuring that we in the College understand what it means to be in compliance with each of them. She is also our resident master of finding just the right piece of data and recollecting forgotten facts.
She has additionally shared her knowledge and expertise to support the University in maintaining its accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission and in preparing to secure accreditation for the Bitonte College of Dentistry.
She is famous in the College of Medicine for “showing up” whenever and wherever she is needed.
