Unsung Heroes: College of Medicine Curriculum Committee

I wish to anonymously nominate our College of Medicine’s Curriculum Committee as Unsung Heroes of NEOMED.

While I understand the Unsung Heroes recognition is usually focused on a single person, I am suggesting that we recognize this committee's collective efforts.

Although I am not a member of this committee (nor do I portray one on TV 😊), I recognize the invaluable work they do is key to our primary purpose: facilitating a curriculum that helps produce physicians who will serve patients well. Past and current faculty and student members on the curriculum committee have grappled over the last several years with foundational shifts in instructional modalities.

While the committee's decisions have not always pleased all stakeholders, I appreciate the hard work they do in trying to guide a curriculum that best serves the transformational changes in health care with which all of us are grappling. Important work often occurs in spaces where there is tension, disagreement and conflict. The faculty and students serving on this committee now and over the past several years deserve a sincere thanks for their work.
