Unsung Heroes: Jesse Zampedro

I’d like to nominate Jesse Zampedro for the Unsung Hero recognition.

Jesse is the pillar of the Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety (EOHS) department. Even though his title is “assistant director,” he is the top dog of EOHS. He has been working solo since January as his safety specialist left NEOMED for another position. He is currently doing the job of three people as EOHS really needs three individuals to keep up with the demands of research protocols, and general occupational safety and reporting for the University. In addition to the normal EOHS requirements, Jesse worked tirelessly for the past three years acting as the COVID-19 reporting point-person for the University’s COVID cases and processed hundreds of emails daily during high-spread periods. He continues to show up to work daily and keep this campus safe. He is a critical member of NEOMED’s staff and is vital to the on-going research that happens on this campus.
