Update on Leadership Searches

As the academic year gets underway, President John Langell would like to apprise the NEOMED community of efforts undertaken thus far related to the search for two critical positions – the vice president for research and the dean of the College of Medicine.

To date, the 14-member vice president for research search committee, led by Dr. Langell, have reviewed 14 applicants and brought forward five candidates for first-round virtual interviews. Following these initial conversations, the committee reconvened and identified three candidates for on-campus interviews, which will include meetings and presentations with various members of the community including students, faculty and staff. Please look for additional information in the August 19 issue of The Pulse for opportunities to meet with the finalists.

The search for the dean of the College of Medicine is also advancing with the search committee, under the guidance of the executive search firm WittKieffer, assisting with the creation of a leadership profile available on WittKieffer’s website. NEOMED’s Office of Marketing and Communications is in the process of creating a page on the University’s website which will provide updates and information, including the leadership profile and a call for nominations. The search firm has reviewed more than 1,300 potential candidates and has spoken with many interested individuals.  WittKieffer and the search committee are scheduled to meet several times in the upcoming weeks with the first round of interviews tentatively scheduled to take place in late October or early November.

Many thanks to both search committees for their thoughtful insights, feedback and time. They have been an integral component throughout the progression of both searches.

Please feel free to contact Michelle Mulhern, chief of staff, at mmulhern@neomed.edu with any questions regarding the processes or if you would like to nominate an individual for the dean of medicine position.
