Welcoming the newest members of the Virtuous Healer Honor Society

The College of Medicine proudly recognizes the newest inductees into the NEOMED Virtuous Healer Honor Society (VHHS), honored during a special ceremony. Ten medical students and one faculty member were welcomed into this prestigious society, which celebrates individuals who exemplify the essential qualities of a virtuous healer: altruism, compassion, curiosity, generosity, humility, justice and moral imagination.

This year’s ceremony featured a keynote address from Corrie Stofcho, M.D. (’06), assistant dean of student affairs and clinical associate professor of pediatrics. In a moment of dual recognition, Dr. Stofcho was also inducted into the VHHS as its newest faculty member and named the 2026 recipient of the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award, presented by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation. This national honor recognizes a faculty member who embodies compassionate, patient-centered care, respect for others and clinical excellence.

Dr. Stofcho’s impact on students was evident throughout the ceremony, as current VHHS student members shared heartfelt reflections on her mentorship and dedication. One student noted, “Dr. Stofcho is dedicated to coaching and guiding us toward the specialties we wish to pursue. She has been consistently available from orientation week to the present and responds to emails quickly. Moreover, she listens attentively and advocates for us when needed. She is an exceptional role model.”

The following Class of 2027 students were inducted into the VHHS:

  • Henyah Dardir
  • Sarah Kassis
  • Ekaterina Kravets
  • Shannon Lam
  • Christine Lo Verde
  • Kaitlyn Malek
  • Meera Nair
  • Julianna Sandine

As members of VHHS, these future physicians join a community committed to advancing humanism in medicine and leading with empathy in healthcare.

Congratulations to all inductees!
