AHEC Scholars Debate: Who Will Keep the Public Healthy?

On February 11, 2023, the Northeast Ohio AHEC Scholars joined area public health leaders in Watanakunakorn Auditorium for a panel discussion about Public Health and how it affects the health of communities. Particularly, the panelists answered questions surrounding, “Who Will Keep the Public Healthy?”

Five panelist stand in a row.The panelists were:

• Myron Bennett, M.B.A., M.H.A.: Skilled Executive with expertise in Public Health

• Nick Cascarelli, Ed.D.: Wayne County Health Commissioner

• Kim Trowbridge, M.Ed., MCHES: Program Coordinator for the CEOMPH, NEOMED

• Lita Wills, M.P.H.: Commissioner, Division of Health Equity and Social Justice, Cleveland Department of Public Health

The panel was moderated by our own first-year medicine student, Balakrishna Brahmandam, an Eastern Ohio AHEC Scholars graduate.

The next regional program, in April, will focus on an interprofessional education case study briefly touching on ethics and humanity in medicine.
