Women in NEOMED Gather for Terrace Club Event

Spring was in full bloom May 10, as NEOMED staff and faculty mingled at Women in NEOMED’s (WiN) first Terrace Club gathering of 2018. With the support of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the Office of the President, the Wasson Center and the Department of Family and Community Medicine, attendees had a chance to network with one another and were treated to a performance by members of Musicians in Medicine, a student interest group.

“The Terrace Club gets faculty and staff talking to each other outside of our normal working interactions,” said Janet Coon, associate director of government and external relations and co-chair of WiN’s community and social outreach committee.

“Hosting the Terrace Club was a natural fit for Women in NEOMED. We are always looking for networking opportunities for our members,” said Janel Koellner, M.A. Ed., assistant director of faculty development and co-chair of WiN.

“It was fun talking with people who maybe hadn’t heard of Women in NEOMED. This event helped us raise awareness about our group,” added Natalie Bonfine, Ph.D., an assistant professor of psychiatry and co-chair of WiN.

Women in NEOMED is an employee resource group supported by the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The group promotes professional and leadership development, networking, and community outreach activities that support the personal and professional development of women faculty and staff at NEOMED. While it addresses issues that disproportionately affect women, WiN’s membership is open to men and women, of the faculty and staff.
