Accessibility Open House is May 21
May 21, 2026, marks Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), a worldwide event focused on promoting digital accessibility and recognition for people with disabilities/impairments. Celebrated every year on the third Thursday of May, GAAD encourages designers, developers, educators and students to consider how digital tools and content can be made more comprehensive.
NEOMED is highlighting the importance of this awareness day by inviting faculty, staff and students to an accessibility open house event in the NEOMED Kohli Library from noon-1:30 p.m. Join staff from the Institute for Teaching Excellence, Library, Writing Center and College of Medicine Student Affairs for a variety of accessibility-related activities including simulations, challenges, information tables, bingo and trivia!
Stop by the library for snacks, grilled cheese, prizes and conversations on becoming an accessibility champion! The Office of Institutional Research will also be hosting a drop-in hour with accessibility resources for Qualtrics from 2-3 p.m. in suite A106 (next to the Provost Office).
Accessible design helps staff, faculty and students. GAAD is a reminder that accessibility is not an add-on, but essential for learning. For more information, feel free to reach out to the Institute for Teaching Excellence at TeachingExcellence@neomed.edu.
