Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent, the forty day period leading up to Easter Sunday. It's a season of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. One of the most commonly followed Lenten traditions is picking something to give up (ex. Chocolate, social media, coffee, etc.) or choosing an extra sacrifice to make (ex. Exercising every day, waking up 1 hour earlier, writing notes of appreciation for friends and family, volunteering at a soup kitchen, etc.). All in all, Lent is a season to get away from distractions through fasting and almsgiving and refocus on what is important through prayer!

If you have any questions about Lent and what it means or about the Catholic faith in general, feel free to reach out to ACMS!

Thank you and God bless,
The Association of Catholic Medical Students
