Celebrate Dia de Muertos Oct. 28 through Nov. 1
Please join the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) in celebrating the Mexican holiday Día de Muertos in the NEOMED Inclusivity Center, Oct. 28 through Nov. 1. Día de Muertos is a celebration of life and a way to remember our family and friends (including our animal friends and family) who are no longer with us.
Beginning Monday, Oct. 28, we invite the NEOMED community to bring a photo of a loved one and/or a small memento to display on the ‘Ofrenda’ (or alter) in the Inclusivity Center. Ofrendas are usually created by family members and are often decorated with flowers, photographs, candles and other meaningful items.
On Friday, Nov. 1, from noon to 2 p.m., LMSA will host a celebration event with light refreshments of pan de muerto and traditional hot chocolate in the Inclusivity Center.
You do not need to have contributed to the ofrenda to participate in the festivities. Students can RSVP for the pictures and mementos can be picked up from the Inclusivity Center thereafter.
