Monica Venere, Ph.D., assistant professor in the College of Medicine, Deptartment of Radiation Oncology at The Ohio State University, has been invited by the NEOMED Relay For Life team to speak on her research. Dr. Venere’s research was funded by a grant from the American Cancer Society. Part of the money the NEOMED team raised went toward this research.
Dr. Venere’s topic of discussion will be the understanding of how some cancer cells continue to grow even after radiotherapy – a common cancer treatment. Her group is specifically looking at making radiotherapy on a specific protein more effective at reducing tumor recurrence. While her research focuses on brain tumors, it may be applicable to other cancers.
All are invited to attend Dr. Venere’s presentation.
