Please join the NEOMED Department of Psychiatry and Peg's Foundation for the inaugural Drs. Fred and Penny Frese Lecture on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 3:30 p.m. in the NEW Center Grand Ballroom. The lecture series honors the legacy of Dr. Fred Frese and Dr. Penny Frese by sharing stories of individuals living successfully with schizophrenia and other serious mental illnesses and the ways in which their loved ones support their recovery. Elyn R. Saks, J.D., Ph.D., is the 2018 Drs. Fred and Penny Frese Lecturer.

Inaugural Speaker

Elyn R. Saks, J.D., Ph.D. 

Dr. Saks is the Orrin B. Evans professor of law, psychology and psychiatry and the behavioral sciences at the University of Southern California Gould Law School. She is also a mental health law expert and MacArthur Foundation Fellowship winner. Dr. Saks lives with schizophrenia and has written about her experience with the illness in her award-winning best-selling autobiography, The Center Cannot Hold, published by Hachette Books.
