From Burnout to Balance: Understanding the Importance of Decolonizing Mental Health and Wellness Strategies for BIPOC Students

The Ohio Program for Campus Safety and Mental Health invites you to join them for the final OPCSMH webinar of the 2023-24 Webinar Series.

On Wednesday, May 8 at noon ET, Stacey Diane Arañez Litam, PhD., LPCCs, NCC, CCMHC, associate professor, Cleveland State University, will provide her presentation: From Burnout to Balance: Understanding the Importance of Decolonizing Mental Health and Wellness Strategies for BIPOC Students, in which she will discuss the unique challenges that first-generation Black, Indigenous and People of Color or BIPOC student.

She will provide a brief introduction to the decolonized framework for mental health approaches and wellness strategies in higher education as many of the current approaches to well-being are historically grounded in Eurocentric and Western models and have been inconsistent with the ways in which many BIPOC individuals understand, experience, and navigate the world.
