Igel Research Award celebration

You’re Invited: Igel Research Award Celebration

Please plan to join us in the NEW Center Ballroom on Friday, June 12 at 4 p.m. for the inaugural presentation of the Howard J. Igel Award in Innovative Research.

Established in honor of Dr. Howard Igel, the first chair of NEOMED’s Department of Pathology, this award recognizes and supports innovative research by College of Medicine faculty with strong potential to advance the understanding and treatment of human disease. The award is made possible through the generosity and vision of the Igel family, who will join us in celebrating this year’s recipient, Jaclyn Welles, Ph.D.

The award supports a one-year research project designed to spark creative, high impact work and future external funding opportunities. During the program, Dr. Welles will be recognized and share a brief, lay-friendly overview of her project.

A reception will follow, offering an opportunity to continue the celebration and honor this new NEOMED tradition.
