Innovation at Region's Five Universities to be Celebrated, March 24

The innovation at Northeast Ohio's public universities, including NEOMED, will be celebrated during Innovation Day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, March 24 at Kent State University's Design Innovation Hub.

The keynote speaker will be Lydia Mihalik, director of Ohio Department of Development.

The event provides a forum for Northeast Ohio’s public universities to foster collaboration between each other and with the regional innovation ecosystem. The one-day symposium includes presentations and panel discussions on research and development highlights, workforce, regional focus areas of importance, technology transfer highlights and effective mechanisms for collaboration.

Registration is required but free for all attendees. Lunch and free parking are included.  

Dr. Rebecca Z. German, NEOMED vice president for research, will participate in a panel discussion about university collaborations and partnerships. Dr. Fayez Safadi, Ohio Research Scholar and faculty director of the NEOvations Bench to Bedside program, will discuss NEOMED’s innovation ecosystem including education, research, technology development and commercialization.

Posters from faculty and students at participating institutions will also be featured.
