Issue One Ask and Answer, Oct. 17

The battle on the opioid crisis is happening now! Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 6 and YOU have the power to wage war on it…that is…in a diplomatic manner…with your vote. Nearly everyone knows somebody afflicted by addiction. It’s not only an individual disease, it devastates friends, family and loved ones. It is a disease of the mind, body and spirit and takes more than a jail sentence to cure. Issue One is a bill that proposes the investment of funds into rehabilitation for minor drug possession offenses rather than prison time.

WHAT: Come get the facts straight about Issue One with the NEOMED Rural Medicine Interest Group. We will be hosting an “ask & answer” webinar with the Program Manager of the Issue One Ambassador Program, Greg Griffith. See his bio. Refreshments will be provided.

WHEN: Wednesday, Oct. 17 from 6-8 p.m.

WHERE: NEW Center Rooms 2014-2015 or via Zoom

WHO: YOU! Bring your friends. Bring your brothers, sisters, and parents too. All are welcome at this event!

The Neighborhood Safety and Drug Treatment Amendment reduces the number of people in state prison for low-level, nonviolent crimes and puts the money to better use by directing future savings to drug treatment and victim services.
