Medicine Student to Present Heart Failure Research at American Heart Association Meeting

Congratulations to Rommel Morales (M2), who will present a poster at the scientific sessions of the American Heart Association Nov. 13-15. The presentation is titled “Association of Beta-1 Adrenergic Receptor Autoantibodies with Heart Failure Risk in Systemic Sclerosis.”

The research examines the putative role of anti-beta-1 adrenergic receptor autoantibodies and the protective role of the IgG3 subclass in heart failure among patients with systemic sclerosis.

Morales conducted the research in association with the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, Heart, Vascular and Thoracic Institute, Department of Rheumatic and Immunologic Diseases, and Orthopaedic & Rheumatologic Institute (Cleveland Clinic), with authors Alexia Zagouras; Thanat Chaikijurajai, M.D.; Soumya Chatterjee, M.D.; and W.H.
