NEOMED clubs unite for Brain Day

Five NEOMED student organizations are joining forces this October for Brain Day, a two-part event exploring the science behind neurological conditions. Students involved in the organizing clubs, all other NEOMED students, and community members are encouraged to attend.

The Neurology, Neurosurgery, Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Infectious Disease Interest Groups are hosting Brain Day Breakthroughs and the Brain Day 5K Run/Walk, two events built around a shared idea: many causes of brain disorders are treatable, but they're too often missed.

BRAIN DAY BREAKTHROUGHS | Wednesday, Oct. 7 | 6–7:30 p.m. | Watanakunakorn Auditorium (admission: $10; students free)

This lecture-style event brings together researchers and clinicians to discuss how infections, toxins, and genomics contribute to autism, mental illness, dementia and Parkinson's disease. Speakers include Nikki Schultek, co-founder of the Alzheimer's Pathobiome Initiative; Charlotte Davies, founder of Fit2Learn; James Greenblatt, founder of PsychiatryRedefined.org; and NEOMED's own Dr. Teri Sanor, the event's organizer and a longtime advocate for root-cause approaches to brain health.

BRAIN DAY 5K RUN/WALK | Saturday, Oct. 10 | 9:30 a.m. | NEOMED Courtyard (admission $5; under 12 free)

A non-competitive run/walk open to the whole community, with proceeds from both events supporting the Alzheimer's Pathobiome Initiative and the Brain Inflammation Collaborative. These organizations are actively working to uncover treatable causes behind neurological and psychiatric disease.
